Children will learn a wide range of acrylic painting techniques and styles by attending our classes. The more classes they attend, the more they will build on their skills, as each session covers various techniques, styles, tools and approaches. These include, but are not limited to, brush control, colour mixing, layering, blending, texture creation, and working with both conventional tools like brushes and palette knives. We also use unconventional tools like sponges, scrapers and everyday objects.
Every class introduces a new painting project and children will regularly apply and refine a variety of techniques to complete their work. Our goal is to boost creativity, build confidence and help children develop essential art skills, all while having fun in a relaxed and creative environment.
Yes, we offer a standard rescheduling option if you notify us via email at least 3 days before the scheduled art activity. We will reschedule for the next available date, subject to availability.
For more flexibility, we also offer a Flexible Plus option at the time of booking. This allows you to reschedule up to 5 minutes before the activity starts, as long as we are notified via email.
Each class is live streamed in full HD quality via Zoom, providing an enjoyable and seamless experience. Our professional artist, Megan, guides children step-by-step through exciting art projects tailored to their age group.
For the best experience, please avoid using mobile phones to join the class. We recommend using a tablet, laptop, or computer with a larger screen, as small screens can limit visibility and affect your child’s overall learning experience.
To ensure a smooth start:
- Join 10 minutes early to check your setup and make sure everything is ready to go.
- Keep your child’s microphone muted during the session, except when they need to ask a question related to the class. This helps keep the session focused and enjoyable for everyone.
Online class details, including the Zoom link, will be sent to the email used during booking. Please check your inbox (and spam folder if needed) before the session.
Children will use a variety of classic art materials, including:
- Pencils of different grades
- Charcoal (white, black)
- Coloured pencils
- Coloured markers
- Watercolour paints
- Watercolour paper
- A4 standard paper and A4 thick paper
- Rubber
- Brushes
Depending on the project, we will use the necessary art supplies to best support the activity. We will inform parents in advance about any specific materials needed for each session.
We offer two acrylic painting sessions on Saturdays:
Creative Brushes: For children aged 7 to 14 years.
Beginner Explorers: For children aged 5 to 10 years.
Creative Brushes is for older children (ages 7 to 14), focusing on helping them explore various painting techniques and creative concepts as they develop their artistic abilities.
Beginner Explorers is for younger children (ages 5 to 10) and focuses on building foundational skills with step-by-step guidance through structured but accessible projects.
Both acrylic painting classes run on Saturdays at Mere Green Community Centre:
Creative Brushes: 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, for children aged 7 to 14 years.
Beginner Explorers: 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, for children aged 5 to 10 years.
We provide aprons for the children, but acrylic paint can still stain clothes. Please ensure your child doesn’t wear their best clothes, as some stains may not come out.
Our art & craft workshops are suitable for children 6 to 14 years.
The sessions are guided and planned so children can follow the project at their own pace, while still adding their own ideas and finishing touches.
Parent or guardian involvement is required for children with functional or support needs.
Your child can take part in up to three guided creative sessions, depending on what you book.
The activities are:
Natural Watercolour Painting
Children will make natural colours and use natural paints to create their artwork.
Acrylic Painting on Canvas
Children will create an acrylic painting on a 30 x 40 cm canvas, with step-by-step support and creative finishing touches.
Art & Craft
Children will enjoy a creative art and craft project using a wide range of materials and supplies.
You can book one session, two sessions, or the full creative day, depending on what works best for your family.
The full creative day runs from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.

There is a 30-minute break between sessions. Children booked for the full day can have lunch during the break and enjoy simple creative activities with one of our artists while waiting for the next session.

Art & Craft
There is a 30-minute break between each session. If your child is booked for the full day, they can use the break time to have lunch in a dedicated area. They can also enjoy simple creative activities with one of our artists while waiting for the next session.
You can book one session, two sessions, or the full creative day.
The workshops run over two days, and each day follows the same creative format, but the artwork and project themes will be different.

You can book art and craft workshops through our booking page. If you want to book multiple slots, simply click the ‘Book More’ button or check the ‘Repeat this appointment’ option during the booking process.
For our art and craft workshops, if your child is staying for a longer period, we recommend packing lunch and a drink. For shorter stays, we also suggest bringing a snack and a drink. Additionally, we recommend bringing a bag or suitable container when picking up your child, to ensure their creations can be taken home comfortably.

Children will take their artwork home with them, so they have something special to share and enjoy after the workshop.
Children’s safety and wellbeing are very important to us. Our workshops are run by experienced artists, workshop leaders and assistants, with DBS checks in place where required. Children are supervised throughout the sessions, and we ask for emergency contact details, allergy information, support needs and collection details at the time of booking.
Our workshops take place in a self-contained building with its own entrance. During sessions, access is managed carefully, and children are signed in on arrival and checked out before leaving. To help keep children safe, we only allow them to leave with the parent, guardian or named adult provided at the time of booking. If collection details need to change, they must be updated by the person who made the booking before collection.
Toilets are available at the venue, and children are supported in a safe and appropriate way when they need to use them. If your child needs extra help, please let us know before the workshop so we can discuss the best arrangement.
We also operate a nut-free policy, and a first aid kit is available on site. Parents or guardians are welcome to contact us before booking if they have any questions or if their child may need additional support.
The photos on our website are used to give families an idea of the style and type of activities offered during our workshops. The exact artwork or project may vary depending on the workshop date, theme and materials used on the day.
Each session is carefully planned and guided by our artists, workshop leaders and assistants. Whatever the project, we aim to provide a high quality creative experience using carefully selected art supplies, materials and creative tools suited to the activity. This may include paints, canvases, paper, craft materials, clay, mixed media supplies or other specialist materials, depending on the workshop.
Children will be supported throughout the session, so they can enjoy the process and take home artwork they feel proud of.
Each class features a different project focusing on either drawing, painting or a combination of both. This allows children to explore different techniques and mediums each week, promoting creativity and artistic growth.
Children will explore a variety of drawing and watercolour techniques, including shading, blending, layering and more. They will also gain hands-on experience using different materials such as pencils, markers, watercolour paints and watercolour pencils.
Our Drawing and Watercolour art classes are designed for children aged 5 to 11 years.
Drawing and Watercolour classes take place every Thursday from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Mere Green Community Centre in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, except for the first Thursday of each month.
The classes cover essential GCSE art techniques, including shading, perspective, life drawing, portraiture, watercolour techniques, still life and landscape drawing. Each session is project-based, giving children hands-on experience across different mediums. The classes are led by a professional artist to ensure expert guidance and support.
We provide all necessary art supplies, including pencils, charcoal pencils, coloured pencils, markers, watercolour pencils, watercolour paints, high-grade paper, brushes and other accessories. Children don’t need to bring any materials with them.
GCSE art classes are held every Wednesday from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at Mere Green Community Centre, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.
These classes are designed for children aged 11 to 16 who are preparing for their GCSE Art exams or looking to develop a strong art portfolio.
We recommend that your child wears comfortable clothes that they don’t mind getting messy during the art activities.
Each class accommodates up to 16 children, ensuring personalised attention and a supportive learning environment.
Our art clubs cover a variety of activities, including painting, drawing, collage, and art and craft projects. Each session is designed to be engaging, with a new and exciting project that allows children to explore different mediums.
Yes, all art materials and supplies are provided, so there’s no need for schools or parents to bring anything additional.
Art clubs are typically held in classrooms, halls or dedicated art rooms within the school premises, making them easily accessible for children.
Our art clubs are scheduled during the school term, from Monday to Friday, with sessions typically running from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. We are flexible with the timing to fit the school’s schedule.
Our school art clubs are designed for children in school years 1 to 6, providing age-appropriate activities that cater to a wide range of abilities.
We offer two booking options: through our secure booking system or the school’s existing system, providing flexibility for both schools and parents.

Yes, our art clubs are designed to be inclusive and accommodate children of all abilities. Activities are adapted to ensure every child can participate fully and enjoy a positive, supportive environment.
If your school is using our booking system, each school is provided with a unique invitation code for our school art clubs. The school then shares this code with parents, typically via their newsletter or email. If you haven’t received the code, please contact your school directly for assistance.
If you are booking through our system and can’t see any art clubs available to purchase after registering and logging in, it may be because there are no clubs currently available for your school or they have already sold out. Please contact us and we’ll be happy to add you to a waiting list for the next available place.
We understand that circumstances like illness, injury, or absence from school can happen, but unfortunately, we’re unable to offer refunds if your child can’t attend. Refunds are only provided if we have to cancel the art activity.
Yes, we offer automatic discounts for our art activities, including Acrylic Painting, Drawing & Watercolour, GCSE Art Classes, and Online Art Classes.
A 6% sibling discount is applied when booking more than one child for the same art activity. Additionally, we offer 3% off when booking 3 to 5 sessions on separate dates and 6% off when booking 6 or more sessions on separate dates.
All discounts are applied automatically at checkout, so there’s no need to enter any codes.
You can book either a single class or multiple art classes through our booking page, depending on your preference. We offer both block booking and pay-as-you-go options for greater flexibility. To book multiple sessions, simply click the ‘Book More’ button or check the ‘Repeat this appointment’ option during the booking process.
Parents are encouraged to drop off their children and collect them after the session. However, for children with functional or support needs, parent or guardian involvement is required to make sure they receive the support they need during the art activity.
For younger children, we understand they may sometimes need a few minutes with their parent or guardian at the beginning of the session, and we are happy to support this. If a younger child needs a little extra reassurance, a parent or guardian may also be able to stay during the session, subject to availability.
Parents are also welcome to book a place and take part in the art session alongside their child. This can be added during the booking process by selecting the Parent Participation option.
All art materials and accessories are provided. However, we ask that parents send their children with a snack and a drink, as we have a short break during the art class.

Yes, your child will proudly take home their masterpiece at the end of each art class.
We operate a strict no-nut policy to help keep all children safe. A first aid kit is always available on site. When booking, we ask for details about who will be collecting your child, emergency contact information, and whether your child has any allergies, support needs or disabilities.
Please also note that some tools have age guidance when they are used during activities. Low-melt glue guns are suitable for children aged 7+ only, and 3D pens are suitable for children aged 8+ only.
For children with functional or support needs, parent or guardian involvement is required during the art activities to ensure they get the necessary support.
Each session introduces a new project, so your child can attend future sessions without falling behind. However, please note that missed sessions are not carried over, and attendance is charged on a per-session basis. Regular attendance is recommended for consistent progress and skill development.
